Clothing lines and the act of drying fabrics in the natural breeze of the air has been a ritualistic chore of the Venetian community for centuries. This is a ritual chore that takes up the shared space in a way that shows the presence of tradition in a community. As for me, while recognizing it is a way to make the wind physically tangible. The act of capturing the movement of wind in the fabrics creates a presence of poetic imagery. The wind that flows in and out of the fabrics moves in and out through you, welcoming you in and out of the space that becomes a maze. While at the same time leading you to different places around the Venetian community telling a story of how they share the rituals of their daily lives. With these elements in mind I wanted to push the imagery of the frame further in a way that presents clothing line as symbolic embodiment of the community’s life.
